Martinez, Feb. 7. 1899My dear Cousin,I am very sorry to hear of the severe illness of your dear mother & at the same time glad that she is now getting better. You must have had a weary anxious time I fondly hope & pray that she will speedily recover with the coming good weather of the spring. This has been a stormy sickly winter over most all of our country. Mrs Muir has been in bed eight weeks with the Grippe & is not yet able to be up though getting better slowly. Wanda also was laid up two weeks but is now quite well. Maggie is better than usual & the rest of the family are about as well as ordinary.Write again as soon as you receive this for I am anxious.Ever with love to your mother & selfYour CousinJohn02540
