[1]Martinez California Oct. 7, 1898Dear Papa,We got your letter yesterday and your telagram a few days ago and we were all so very glad to hear from you. We have had two of the lovelyest big rains and they lade the dust and made it really muddy and I think it will rain again for it is cloudy.Last Monday Blanche, [Mand?] and Wanda and I went for a walk on the hills, we went along the ridge untill we got nearly to Penole then we went along way south and made a circle and came out near Ferndale we think that alltogeather we went about 18 or 20 miles, I was just a little tired but Wanda was not at all.Sunday we went up to the little tunnel08228
