Martinez, Oct. 8. 1899My dear Charlie -If you dont want to build a shanty of your own on an acre, just move into the adobe over by the Orange Grove. Or if lonesome there just come over to the house We will be glad to have you anywhere or anyway.Mrs Knapp proposes to publish a lot of mixed bungled stuff derived from her visit here with you. I think her publishing what she heard from me in the unguarded freedom of my home is an outrage - Yell this into her ear the next time you see her.Mr Merriam has just telephoned he would be up tomorrow morning Cant you & your wife come with him Cheer up. Good Luck God bless YoursJohn Muir
