Dear Sister Sarah,
I’m sorry I did not know Celia was in Ashland when I passed through with the Harrimans for I had time for a little visit with her. I’ve just returned from a trip to the Muir Woods with Mr. Kent and to the adjacent woods as far as Olema. Until the day before starting on this trip I had never met Mr. Kent or any of his family. Helen is getting on bravely in the desert. Hope Celia is not seriously ill. With best wishes to all of you faithfully, John Muir
