New York Sep. 26, 1893 Dear Wanda & Helen I was very glad to get your letters yesterday. They were both very interesting and well written. Tell Mama that I got her telegram yesterday (Monday) but Grandmas I got Saturday. If Mr Gilder gets back to New York tomorrow then Mr Johnson and I will go to Washington about the forests but I don’t want to go alone. This is the only thing that keeps me in New York. I mean to stay a day or two at Chicago, & with mother, then my dears I’m coming straight home, declining all other invitations. I got some clothes made in Edinburgh just before I left, & while trying them on I stood between two mirrors & saw the back of my head for the first time. Then I noticed a spot nearly bald & though perhaps I would have to wear a wig some day & you would all b e talking about it Her e is what I thought you would be saying I hope it will amuse you a little while you are waiting for me to appear
