Daniel and Mary and myself have been attending a sing school we had a first rate teacher his name is Mr Carpenter, but it will be done on Tuesday we will then have had him here for twelve nights. and we go to the Episcopal sunday school and the minister teaches a singing school on Saturday afternoon to the sunday scholars so we attend that one also. But I guess I have written long enough for I am making so many mistakes now John you must write a long letter to me as soon as you have time so good by from your sister Anne MuirDear Sir I can read music now but not very readily. I am practicing every day I like very well to attend the singing school. Oh John how glad I am that you are not drafted I think those that began this war ought to be the only man to fight and not to force those to fight who are really unwilling. We are going to have a Sunday School celebration on Christmas and we are going to have a Christmas tree and good times I expect. you told me to draw a picture for you and even gave me the paper to draw it on but they are all to heavy perhaps I will find one to suit me some day please do write to me soon you have not written to me for a long long time and I should like very much if you would please excuse my poor writing good by from Mary your sister
