[4]Father has gone to Poynette to visit his friends, and I am staying tonight at Sarahs I visited Margt this afternoon and David Muir and his family were there they are all well we all expect letters form you soon. from your ever affectionate MotherI hope you will get this safe[1] Farm 31st Dec. 1865Dear Daniel Can it be possible that you have not received the two letters we have sent you - I received the note you wrote me on your arrival at Buffalo and I was glad you had arrived safe, and I wrote to you about two weeks after and every Thursday since your father has called at the post office but no letters from Daniel yet. I hope when you get this and know how impatient we are you will write us soon as possible, and let us know how you get along, tell us how you spent Christmas, we we're at Portage and dined at Sarahs on Christmas but Margt was not well enough to be there -
