Mary was down with her last week and Anna is down this I was very sorry to hear of your disappointment when you came to Madison I think I know a little of how you felt leaving such very kind friends and than to be thrown out of the home you expected upon the cold world, but you must not be discouraged for you know we must all have our trials some one way and some another indeed we are to expect nothing better here the best we can do is to fight our way [manfully?] to the end of our journey here and see that we are prepared for that long eternity we know not how near to all of us John Bluckly came up three or four weeks ago he is away again mind he is quite Yankee -fied by what he was 4 years ago I was asking David if he had any news to send you he said he could not mind[3] anything but to tell you that he was most awful wearying to see you you know John we cant gather much news among the grubbs, we are all pretty well except a little cold many time Anna speaks about Uncle John far far away. John you will surely be up soon mind we are all wearying now awful to see you if you are not coming soon be sure to write soon, and tell us all the news you can think of I suppose you know a good many of the questions I would ask if you were here tell me as many of them as you can how are you getting along with your [Tip?] up Bed have you got a patent get and are you not making some other Funny thing it will be funny if you are not now I must stop John for it is getting dark and the pig needs its supper and the cow and I need
