Home Dec. 13, 1913Darling Helen,I'm very glad you are getting well again & all the family & affairs prosperous. As for Yosemite Park, the destructive Raker bill has been railroaded through Congress but we still hope the President will veto it. Anyhow Ive done my best and am now free to go on with my own work. The book now on hand is Alaska. We are all about as usual. Tom & Wanda are away most of the time on plans & affairs I know nothing. I'm somewhat run down for want of exercise, proper food, and exhausting work & worry.Mrs Smith has been very ill, but is better Simon Blum was buried a few days ago. The valley is beautiful with grass & flowers after abundant rain. I suppose Buel is attending to taxes. Ever devotedly your father & friend.
