Martinez California,Dec.31 1913Dear Miss Harwood:Many thanks for your kind letter. Though the park destroyers by disgraceful means have managed to get their bill through Congress, the battles we have fought for the Yosemite Park during the last twelve years have not been in vain. The whole country has been aroused to the danger all our parks and playgrounds are exposed to, and invasions like that of San Francisco are hardly to be looked for in future. Anyhow we have done the best we could and must now turn to other work. With all good New Years wishes I amfaithfully yoursJohn Muir05641
