Martinez Sep.30 1913Dear Johnson:Warmest thanks for the long gallant fight for our magnificent parks in which you for the last fifteen years have stood bravely in the front.Whatever the outcome of this Hetch Hetchy struggle all the world is greatly indebted to you.I enclose check for stenography.Contributions so far as I have seen amount to only seven dollars, but about fifty more has been promised, all the rest required on this side of the continent has been contributed by Colby, Parsons & J.M.This war however must still go on and we must not grown weary in welldoing.I am planning another circular or letter in case it may be required. The picture on the outside of illustrated pamphlet were worse than useless. I'll try to get a large general view of the main upper two-thirds of the valley.Heartily congratulating & thanking you for your noble work. I am ever your faithful friend & admirerJohn Muir
