Hotel Windsor,Victoria Street,Westminster S.W.,June 12, 1903.Dear Louie,We expected to start for Paris today, but concluded to wait until tomorrow to give time to visit Frogmore, a magnificent estate about 25 miles from here full of grand trees and shrubs from all the world, mingled with those of Britain. We saw many of our own conifers which were sent to England by David Douglas. The lawns and gardens and groves are far more beautiful and wild looking and grand than I could imagine a planted manufactured landscape [might] be made.In the afternoon we visited the venerable woods and groves and gardens of the famous Holland House, in which Addison used to saunter. Altogether [we] have had a great time in London -- visited the National Museum, Art Gallery, Library, Westminster Abbey, the Zoo, etc., and most of the famous parks and streets, but am glad to get away, and hope our stay in Paris and other big cities will be shorter, so we will have time for the wildernesses.Love to our darlings and Maggie, and remember me to Sarah when you write.Ever your affectionate husband,JOHN MUIR
