[First draft of letter, in note-book][Bradford Leavitt] [March, '03].Dear Mr. Leavitt:I thank you for your kind letter, and I am glad Emerson is to be so fittingly celebrated among you. As for myself, I expect to be on a long journey o'er the hills and far awa’ before his birthday to see some of the forests of other lands, sailing from N.Y. about the middle or end of May. But l’ll be with you in spirit, and wish you all a reviving Emerson time. Among so many Emerson lovers who know his voice and in their lives feel his presence every day, I shall not be missed.Heartily wishing you every Emersonian blessing, I am,Faithfully yours,[John Muir]
