UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIAOFFICE OF THE PRESIDENTBerkeley, March 31, 1903.My dear Sir:President Wheeler, who has left Berkeley today for a week's absence, has asked me to request your opinion in regard to the comparative merits of these itineraries for the Yosemite journey. They are, as you will see, for the President's party as distinguished from the private expedition of President Roosevelt and yourself. Itinerary No. 5 was prepared after Mr. A. S. Mann had submitted the other four. He assures me that there will be no difficulty in its execution. This itinerary has seemed to President Wheeler preferable to the other four. Will you be so kind as to return the enclosures?Very truly yours,[illegible]President's Secretary.Mr. John Muir,Martinez, California.Enclosures.[03203]
