[2]We had quite a pleasant time on Christmas, in the first place while I was just starting the fire in the morning Grace walked in, which was a great pleasure and though she could only stay until the next Monday morning, the short visit did her lots of good, she had a bad cold but was looking well. Joanna and the children were with us to Christmas dinner also Hiram Anna and the children so you see all that could get together were here. On the next day when we were all together, Joanna too had come in again, our Pastor (whom you have met) was also here. Celia was at the organ and we were having some music when I received a letter from[3]Mrs Lunam, full of kind wishes, and loving remembrances of our Mother, in that way she too, seemed to come into our midst, and her words were like a benediction.She said she had heard from you lately.New Years day was unusually mild and warm, for a week it had been dark, cloudy and misty with some rain, on that day the sun shone out in the afternoon making it seem like a new world after all the darkness, making it seem a cheerful beginning for the year, but the next morning it was as dull and dark and wet as ever and so continued for two or three days more. now we
