April 8th, 1903.Prof. John Muir,Martinez, Calif.Dear SirIn reply to yours of 2nd inst. addressed to our Mr. Beach, we note that the article you are preparing for our forthcoming Encyclopedia will soon be completed. In regard to illustrations, we prefer to leave this largely to your judgment. We would, of course, like to have a good photograph of the glacier named for yourself, and of two or three others which you might select. These photos we will return safely to you after using them to make our plates.Very truly yours,SCIENTIFIC AMERICANCOMPILING DEPT.C. A. WatsonASST. EDITOR.[03212]
