28 August 1903. Madam, We beg to acknowledge your telegram as follows:-"Have you forwarded letter to John Muir travelling in Russia "with Professor Sargent of Arnold Arboretum - answer paid. Mrs. John Muir. and confirm our reply - "Yes." All mail for Professor Sargent and his party has been duly forwarded in accordance with his instructions. The last orders we received were dated in Moscow, 29 July, and were to send to - c/o The United States Legation, Peking , until further advise. We may mention that the cost of reply to your enquiry was not prepaid, and we shall be glad if you will remit us the same, viz: 9/- (nine shillings).We are, Madam, Yours faithfully,For BARING BROTHERS & CO., Limited.
