Dear Professor Sargent:It is with mortal disgust that I bother you again about the time of sailing after it has already been twice fixed, & berths engaged. I am being worried out of my senses with letters telegrams & telephone messages about the President's little trip to Yosemite. Here is the whole confounded story: glance over it & tell me what you think of it.A week or two after agreeing to go to Russia with you I heard through our Senators that the President wished to make031912an excursion with me into the high Sierra some time in April or May.Later several other more definite messages came to me through President Wheeler of our State University to all of which I [replied?] that a prior engagement would prevent my making the trip unless it was to be made very early.Yesterday I received still another letter from Wheeler 03191
