May 1, 1903Dear Professor Sargent,I'll be ready for Boston & Russia as soon as the President's Yosemite trip is made, & my passport arrives. On receipt of your letter calling attention to its importance I went to San Francisco & had my application made & forwarded to the State Department In ten or twelve days it was returned as defective for the reason that it was not accompanied by my father's certificate of naturalization I immediately sent in another application which the lawyers say is all right, & the fussy barbarous document should be here in a day or two.Ill not forget the letters to ambassadors.03228
