[2]for once to be [inconspicuous?] & shall I suppose have to wear such clothes often on this trip. Today I went to Boston & called at the Houghton Mufflin offices Had a long chat with Perry who called in Allen the naturalist & a lot of other writers so I had [quite?] a reception & lectured as usual on forest glaciers etc as to an audience. Then Mr Mifflin sent for me & the same thing went on in his office. They all want me to write write write. Tomorrow Ill buy the things I need & be ready to start for New York Thursday morning. This will give me half a day to call on Mr Harriman, who is, as you know, recovering
