[in margin: From aunts about Grandmother Muir illness]Portage, Wis. June 18. 96Dear Emma.I write to you hoping that the Doctor is on his way to Portage by this time, as I have just sent him a telegram with the advance that his money matters will be taken care of as Mother's case is most critical and we want him here at any cost; as he might save her to us a few years when no one else can. Sometimes she seems a little better and, in a few hours all looks discouraging. She ask for "Dan" repeatedly, "Has he come yet" she repeats.
