78 Martinez May 10, 1902My dear JohnsonI'll not overpass the limit you set for the canon article though the subject is of a kind & size not easily comprised. I'll do my best however to make a clear sketch. No doubt it will be miserably lean & scrawny no matter how hard I try. I could write a [fan?] sized book from the notes I've already collected easier than this gnarly article, Perhaps I may some day. Anyhow Ive enjoyed the study of that grand river & its basin.
