Martinez April 1, 1902Dear Mr & Mrs Keeler:I look back with great pleasure to the morning & evening at your romantic home on the hill. The company was delightful & I only regret your encouraging or allowing me to talk so incessantly I wanted to hear others especially yourselves after seeing so much on your grand trip among the wonderful & beautiful islands, and President Wheeler, even he was smothered in scraps of my icy mountain ramble reports to the scandal of gods & [men?] & you Charlie were knowing my failings in this line were more to blame than I. Therefore next time you see the President & Mrs Wheeler & [indeed?] all the others of the company you must apologize for us both -
