[letterhead]Jan. 13. 1902Mr. John Muir.My dear sir-I want to come up and have a little talk with you some day as soon as convenient. Please let me know when I can do so, and remember me to Mrs Muir. I am now reading for a review. Your last book. & am overcome once for all with the beauty and force of your expression. How to say clearly the opinion I have is monumental; it needs no praise; sentence after sentence rings like the sound of many waters. calling to great forests. There is no one else in America who is doing such work in the "outdoor literature" of this generation. There! I have a little [freed?] my mind, you old ..
