Martinez, Apr 28, 1902My dear LummisI have to go to Kings River Yosemite next June to help the Sierra Club outing, Thence to the Upper Kern Can't go with the Canon party, but hope you can, as guide missionary eye-opener & friend. I was at Bright Angel last January to get a glimpse of the Canon in winter garb, - made one trip to the bottom, rode & sauntered thirty or forty miles along the rim, gazed & dreamed on gable & promontory watched dawns & sundowns, etc. & enjoyed two small snow storms. The flight of the snow & the coming & going of the clouds were glorious - but so is everything A few years ago I made the trip by stage from Flagstaff & went down the Hance trail to the River
