[letterhead]WILLIAMS, ARIZ., January 19023.30 P.M.Dear Louie: Have been here all day since 5.30 this morning weather dry dusty cloudy & mild as at home. Have been out walking on the pine, oak & cedar-dotted hills of lava Hills & mountains all around & craters here & there but not a hint of snow in sight. Yesterday morning the south San Joaquin Valley was full of fog & [illegible], & all across the [illegible] Desert the train was hidden a dense gray cloud of dust which also filled the cars. The weather is surprisingly mid. so also it is said to be at the canon. Will be there tonight at 10 o'clock. Train leaves here at 7. Love to all. Beware of fireJ.M.02930
