[letterhead]Westbrook. Me.April 24th 1901Dear Mr. Muir -Your favors were forwarded on from my home in Illinois - and came to welcoming hands. I thank you for what you tell me of Mrs. Carr - a sad, sad story. I am interested in your few words about yourself - and am glad to have the photos you sent. - I have never seen California, & long to go there. I have friends & near relations in San Francisco - in Los Angeles & Pasadena & [illegible]. - My brother Josiah L- whom you know, spent the winter in Palo Alto & is now in Minneapolis, on his way to Portland. He will probably return to California next winter - address Cupertino. His daughter lives there02859
