October 9, 1901.Dear Mr. Muir,I am packing up and sending off to you this afternoon all the photographs you sent us except those we have used for making illustrations in the book, and these we need to keep as a sort of insurance [illegible] case of injury to the plates. Mr. Winthrop S. S[illegible]udder, who has charge of our illustrations, wished me to express to you his regrets that he was unable to follow one or two of the suggestions you made owing to the fact that the photographs In question did not lend themselves to successful reproduction.Yours sincerely,Mr. John Muir.[02734]
