Stanford University, Cal.Nov. 5, 1900.The Executive Committee, having in charge negotiations for the purchase of the Big Basin Sequoias for a public park, will hold a meeting at the Palace Hotel, San Francisco, Friday evening Nov. 9th at 8 o'clock. The meeting is called for the purpose of receiving the Chairman's report, on the terms of purchase, and for. perfecting plans to take it up actively. There has been every preparation on the part of the Big Basin dumber Co. to begin cutting, this month, on 2200 acres of the best redwood timber in the Santa Cruz mountains. The owners however, have shown marked courtesy to the Committee in its efforts to save the trees from this fate, and have agreed to reasonable terms of purchase; it is also on favorable time, but not such as will allow us to wait on legislative aid by State or Nation. It is manifest therefore that this is the most important meeting we are expected to hold; and a limited number of those deeply interested in this movement are asked to counsel with the Committee on Friday evening. You are hereby respectfully but urgently invited to be present and to bring with you any friend equally inter est ea in this important movement.Ex.Gov. Wm. T. Jeter,Wm. R. Dudley,Chairman of the Committee. Secretary.[02748]
