16Martinez, Feb. 14, 1893.My dear Mr Johnson. At a meeting of the Directors of the Sierra Club last Saturday I urged your views as to the advantages of pushing the Yosemite recession question to a vote in our legislature All were opposed or doubtful as to the wisdom if doing so, though recognizing the value of keeping the matter alive by agitation in the papers & by attacking the annual appropriation for Yosemite when it comes up in the legislature. All seem to think that at present the question of mismanagement should be held in abeyance, but that we cannot be wrong in requesting our legislature to voluntarily give back the Valley to the general government & to urge economy
