[4] 01535I think Capt. Carroll’s estimate of the recession during the past year is too small. I am inclined to think 100 yards closer to the true annual recession than 100 feet. My large may in on a scale of 1 / 100 000, (about 2/3 inch to the mile) [but?] still it covers a sheet 23x27 inches. it shows Mt. Young to be 10 miles from Lynn Canal, with a possible error of 2 ½ miles. This uncertainty comes from not knowing the longitude of Camp Muir very closely.
