2[letterhead]I saw Keith at noon today & he showed me a lovely picture that he painted for me instead of that Irwin one. He made an entirely new picture instead of patching the old one. Im pegging away & getting ahead slowly. On my 22d page ought to have 40 ere this. Miss my babes. Tell them to write - & write yourself There was a long interview report of Johnsons on Yosemite matters in last Sundays Examiner well written & must I think have been contributed by some nonsnake man.Love to allGood night10-30 P.M. & more writing to do.01343[letterhead]July 6th 1889O Dear Louie here is more of those snakes "whirled & whizzed like a wheel" "big as my thigh & head like my fist" all of them you see better & bigger than John Muirs. And when O when is that fatal interview to end. how many more idiotic articles are to grow out of it. "Muirs Strange Story" "Elephants bones are sticking in the Yukon river says geologist John Muir" "Behring Straits [may?] be bridged because Behring Sea is shallow" Oh Oh if the Examiner would only examine its logic!!!
