3were added by the Editor of the Examiner to suit their sensational purposes etc. He is very anxious to be heard on the Yosemite question & offers to write something & submit it to me to show how smooth & dispassionate he can be allowing me to change as much as I judge might be best. If he sends me anything that seems available I shall forward it to you in hopes your finding something useful in it & getting it published, somewhere. I tried to soothe him by saying that it mattered little who did the writing as long as it was well done & was effective in saving the pines & ferns etc but he evidently thought he would like to be a general in this war. He deserves credit for almost diabolical industry
