[2]with very little snow or sleighting, but a great deal of sickness every where and our family have had a good share of it, but I am thankful to write we are all in our usual health again. A letter from California tells us of the same sickness there, but John and his family are all well again he is again writing for the Century Magazine although his big book is not yet finished. We were surprized to have a visit from John Reid he looks well business brought him to Chicago and he came here only for a day or two -[3]Joanna has decided to stay in Portage all of the summer as business still keeps Walter in Philadelphia her rooms with us being upstairs, did not suit her any longer as Baby is now quite heavy so she has found rooms quite near to us that is just what she wanted we are glad she is still so near us Perhaps you know that all Davids family are in S. Dakota. Will is much better pleased with the work there than here, and they are all together again
