Portage WisDec 19, 1890Dear Brother John: An entire year has passed since we have had any correspondence, but as I have been in Portage during that time, of course I have heard news of you and possibly from the other members of the family you have heard of us. I felt very much inclined still to remain silent as I did not have any good news to tell, but on reflection, I could not let these good days014782to by without the word of kindly greeting, for it seems that love must manifest itself in some way, either by word or deed, when the holiday season comes to us. So I will just say that I love you better than ever - for I think that love grows stronger as our years go by - and when this busy time is over I will begin the New Year with a letter to you. Wishing you and Louie and the dear children a very Happy Christmas and New Year I amAffectionately YoursJoanna M. Brown01478
