Clarks Sep 15th — [1873]Dear Mrs Carr, By waiting a day have got dear Galen to go. The horses are ready saddled — will be off in a few minutes Fancy Billy Paint & the Doctor alone & Clark & I backing steps in the [underlined: high ice] Our arms are the butterfly net with wh the doctor drives the mule – a six shooter & rifle for game & Indians (Pah Utes) Billy is joyful & innocent as ever & more so – he says. “That was a good sketch of Mr Carr Its got form to it & she makes trees firstrate” “My first wasn’t as good”. He has been here a day or two retouching some seven paintings that he sold some time ago. He says “I put on some white paint for high lights like Bursted & Hill but Sam didn’t like it, & I (the purchaser)
