[drawing] San Francisco April 25/74Dear Mr. Muir: I was very sorry my wife’s concern for me when I was in one of my “bad spells” prevented me from seeing you when you were so kind as to call. I am still lame and confined to my room, and my hand is too shaky for plain writing; but I must say how [illegible] I appreciate the kind words in your note of the 17th, and hope it may be con- venient for you to favor us with another call.
