01068[letterhead] Portage, Wis., May 9 1882.Dear Brother John,As you see from my heading I am writing in the store where I spend most of my time of late. We have all become quite impatient to hear from you, as it is a long time since any of us have heard from any of you. I begin to think that we, who wish to see you and yours, will have to come to Cal. as there seems to be no prospect of seeing you in Wis. Now if we cannot see you, can you not give us the pleasure of seeing a representation of your family? Just take your wife and little daughter to town
