[letterhead]July 19th 1888Dear Louie. We arrived here last Sunday & leave in half an hour for Tacoma. [There?] we may go to Victoria. We want to go along the lines or ordinary travel & with the advantage of knowledge gained of roads to the wlderness choose our grounds for future work. Very hot_am so nervous can hardly write lots of [agru?] here & am glad to get away thought have seen Portland thoroughly & have had good time generally. Only Keith has been sick two days & saw a doctor yesterday - is now better. I tried to get a party from here to climb Mt. Hood but could get nobody ready Keith also being sick or [illegible] & I [illegible] the weakest of the lot the only [illegible ]reader. I wanted
