Last week we had a letter from John and he seems very happy and contented You will be surprised to know that Hickory Hill is again sold, John C has sold [deleted: It] it to the Catholic [illegible] that brought [illegible] [illegible] [3]farm some years ago David Galloway has bought a handsome 200 Do[illegible] organ for Anna, and brings her to Portage once a week for her music lesson. Joanna will teach in the 2d [illegible] school this summer she has been teaching there for some time – Anna is at home this summer. The girls seem to like the idea of going to California and will go with their father if he will take them but they decided that they would not go with him to England
