Oakland, June 30th [l87l].My dear John,In our lower world Mr. Henry Edwards, who brings you this note, is accounted one of Nature's truest and most devoted disciples. You will take pleasure in introducing him to your heavenly bugs and butterflies, and the winged dragons that hover over those hot breathing springs "in the beyond". I do not know how long he proposes to sojourn there, but make the most of the time, for he has the keys to the Kingdom. And I am alwaysYour friend,Jeanne C. Carr. That little bug who inhabits the "slew" between Hutchings andthe mill (and which we once needed a skiff to pass over) isprobably waiting for Mr. Edwards. Found in grass roots.J. C. C.
