[letterhead]Dec 14 1885Dear Bro. JohnYour draft of $600. came to hand in due time but ere it arrived the 5 acre tract had been raised to $5000.00 but I still thought it the cheapest price in the market and so took it now as it required $2000.00 spot cash and I had but $1700.00 of syndicate money I had to put in $300.00 of my own and so will expect it to drop a share with the rst. I have had the land surveyed platted & recorded as "Muir's Addition to J. O. Young's last Lincoln” and to may surprise had an offer today of $1000.00 for our bargain $500. on the spot and $2500.00 as soon as the papers could be drawn and assume the notes to mortgage I told the man to cough up $3000.00 more and take it along thinking
