00956Martinez, Nov 2d, 1880.Prof Joseph LeConte,Dear Sir Your letter of the 6th of last month enclosing one from Dr Andrews was duly received. The questions contained in the latter are very interesting & show that Dr Andrews has observed closely & honestly. I have just written to him explaining the t[illegible]ous forms of the str[illegible] of the [drift?] etc. I have seen broad fields of [drift?] in process of formation in Alaska & noted all the difficulties encountered by Dr Andrews. It must be very gratifying to you to have your works put in lasting shape & by so good a publishing house as the Appleton. I shall be happy to call on you
