[letterhead] Sitka Alaska, December 12/81.My dear Mr. MuirWe were delighted to hear of your safe return home on the “Corwin” and cordially wish you and your dear wife joy. The “Rush” called in here on her way down & I learned of your safety & departure for San Francisco from the officers on board. We have read your letters in the “Bulletin” with great interest in which we were joined by others of your friends here, among them good Doctor [Du Laney?] who very lately died at his home in Virginia where he had just arrived after a long & weary trip from Sitka – we miss him very much. Col Ball & family are also at their old home in Alexandria Virginia. Ball’s [successor?] Major Morris is now here with Mrs. Morris.01032
