[letterhead]2/3# 1886John Muir Martinez Cat.Dear Brother,I have just come home from Milwaukee Wis where I have been for the past two weeks (about), just before I went off I got a letter from David saying that he thought that they would send two thousand dollars down to invest here for him and [our Wright?] some time in Feby so I have held your money from investment until I had definitely from him which I hope will be en long.I will write you as often as any good word is known. The 17 acres we bought 50 days since is the cheapest of any ground in that locality at 3000.$ per acre, we paid 2000.$ per acre. I hope you got the paper and plat of the city which I sent you. J. and Dot are very well and happy. Joanna is doing famously with the book of childs stories which she is working upon, some of the eight or ten complete [illegible- verses?] very smoothly and easily all their length [thr'd?]With love to you all I am truly Walter Brown01219
