[2]a place in Grand Woods of 3 houses. Here we found Pinchot encamped on the bank of the Flathead River in a bed of Linnaea & Pyrola among grand mountain pines spruces Thyme & Larches. From here we drove 3 miles through those charming woods to McDonald Lake & there at the foot of the lake took a small steamer for the head of it where there is a kind of log hotel. This is one of the most beautiful of all the glacier mountain lakes I have yet seen, more beautiful seom ways even than Tahoe. It is about 10 miles long embosomed in lofty forested mountains with all my favorite norther wood flowers beheath the trees. Next day we rode through the woods
