William and Maymie Kimes Annotation
Following the announcement of the lecture is the statement: ""The U.S. Minister and Consul will be present, and all are cordially invited."" After a brief resume of Muir's accomplishments and travels, the reporter writes, ""In case his own credentials are not considered sufficient, he brings a letter of presentation from President Taft. In his address this evening (in English) Mr. Muir will relate some of his wonderful and varied experiences as he is an excellent racconteur and has an extraordinary stock to draw from; these will be well worth listening to and it is no exaggeration to say that the occasion is a unique one.""
