William and Maymie Kimes Annotation
Muir reminisces about his life and writing, saying: "I've a splendid attic up at my place near Martinez, a regular palace of an attic, where I do my writing. I have my books around me and the pictures I love best and God's great out-of-doors is just outside. There, if I'm let alone I hope to do more writing and pick up some of the lost threads. But the love of the wild and the call of the mountains come to me strongly even there and I have no doubt I'll be a wanderer all my days."
