William and Maymie Kimes Annotation

This article was printed in a special four-page issue of Los Tulares, quarterly of the Tulare County Historical Society, "as a keepsake on the occasion of William F. Kimes speaking to the Society January 16, 1971." It is a reprint of "Summering in the Sierra. Tulare Levels . . . ," no. 53, with notes containing new materials that show the changes Muir had pencilled in a typescript for a magazine article (CStoC). We have been unable to locate such an article. On the cover of the keepsake is reproduced a portrait of Muir by William E. Dassonville, a well-known San Francisco photographer; on the back are three photographs: President Roosevelt with Muir, a Muir sketch, and a view of the High Sierra from Morro Rock.
