William and Maymie Kimes Annotation

This letter expresses gratitude for an editorial on forest reservations. Muir writes: "Scarce a beginning has been made as yet in staying destruction, and it is only by explaining their value, their far-reaching influence on the general welfare, and the quickness of the destruction that threatens them, that a rational permanent management can be hoped for." Muir concludes with the wish that more editorials would appear.
